Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 2026

Pinpourri is a Chrome Extension that lets you pin notes directly onto web pages. This policy explains what data we collect, how we store it, and your rights. We keep things short and plain.

1. What we collect

Free tier (local-only)

All your notes and project data are stored entirely in your browser using chrome.storage.local. No data ever leaves your device. We collect nothing.

Pro tier (cloud sync & collaboration)

When you create an account or sign in, we store:

  • Email address — used for authentication and to receive collaboration invitations.
  • Notes and project data — pinned notes (content, position, page URL), project names, and domain configurations are synced to our server so they stay in sync across devices and are visible to collaborators.
  • Account metadata — account creation date, last updated timestamps, and your subscription tier.

We do not collect passwords in plain text. Authentication uses hashed credentials or third-party OAuth (if enabled).

2. How we use your data

  • To provide cloud sync and team collaboration features.
  • To send invitation emails when a project owner adds you as a collaborator.
  • To manage your subscription status.

We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties beyond what is necessary to operate the service (e.g., a payment processor for Pro subscriptions).

3. Chrome Extension permissions

Pinpourri requests the following browser permissions:

  • activeTab / scripting — to inject the pin overlay on pages you visit.
  • storage — to save your notes and settings locally in the browser.
  • contextMenus — to add a right-click option for pinning.
  • sidePanel — to show the notes panel alongside the page.

We do not read the content of pages you visit beyond what is needed to anchor pins to specific elements.

4. Data storage and security

Pro tier data is stored on servers located in the EU/US (depending on provider). Data is transmitted over HTTPS. We take reasonable measures to protect your data, but no service is 100% secure.

5. Data retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at [email protected]. Free-tier data is stored only in your browser and is removed if you uninstall the extension or clear browser storage.

6. Children's privacy

Pinpourri is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of Pinpourri after changes constitutes acceptance.
